Dancing Flight Attendants!

Cebu Pacific's flight attendants has a dance number. They made a way in conducting the safety facts quite entertaining than pure boring. They actually danced a 2-min mash up of Lady Gaga's "Just Dance" and Katy Perry's "California Gurls". They even received a round of applause from the passengers.

I know you wanted to see now how the flight attendants made the new way of elaborating the safety facts before taking-off.

How to Be Happy?

So happiness - isn't that the thing that all of us strive to find and keep? Nobody is happy all of the time, but some people are definitely more fulfilled than others. Studies on what makes people happy reveal that it doesn't have much to do with material goods or high achievement; it seems to whittle down to your outlook on life, and the quality of your relationships with the people around you.

Toyota Supra is a sports car or grand tourer that was produced by Toyota Motor Company from 1979 to 2002. The styling of the Toyota Supra was derived from the Toyota Celica, but it was both longer and wider. Starting in mid-1986, the Supra (in its third generation, Mark III) became its own model and was no longer based on the Celica. In turn, Toyota also stopped using the prefix Celica and began just calling the car SupraDue to the similarity and past of the Celica's name, it is frequently mistaken for the Toyota Supra, and vice versa.

Statistics - Hypergeometric Distribution

Hypergeometric distribution is a discrete probability distribution that describes the number of successes in a sequence of n draws from a finite population without replacement, just as the binomial distribution describes the number of successes for draws with replacement.

Here's an example problem number 5.29 retrieved from Scientists and Engineers guide to probability & statistics eighth edition by Walpole, Myers and company.

History of Solar Panel

history of solar power

What is a Solar Panel?

A Solar Panel is a device consisting of flat-shaped collection of solar cells or thermal collectors that is connected to each other and is intended to convert solar energy into heat or electric power.

Solar Panel as the name denotes is a gadget intended to gather and capture the energy from the sun. The solar cells are also referred to as the photovoltaic cells. The term photovoltaic means light and electricity.

History of Solar Panel: Its Invention

Since the early times, man has seen the great potential in the sun as an enormous source of power and energy. And in the course of history, he has devised means to tap into this great energy source in the heavens. Indeed, the sun is an ideal power giver: the solar energy is ever-flowing and inexhaustible and free from creating pollution.

In ancient Europe, the Romans and Greeks realized the vastness and availability of the power from the sun, and they used this power through the designs in their houses. They also used solar energy to compliment the available means of energy then, which was twigs, logs and lumber for burning.

During the period of the industrial revolution, scientists and engineers searched to tap on the solar power as an effective alternative to the coal-dependent steam engine.

Auguste Mouchout is the inventor of the first solar motor – in the early 1960’s he was able to invent a steam engine that will run on solar energy. But because coal was becoming a cheap source of energy, his invention as an important landmark in the Industrial Revolution history came and went unnoticed.

John Ericsson in the United States is one of the pioneers in the development of solar power. He is the inventor of the parabolic trough collector, design still in use until today.

In 1921, Albert Einstein’s research on the photoelectric effect garnered for him the Nobel Price in Physics. The creation of energy from solar cells is the concept of the photoelectric effect.

In 1941, Russell Ohl is awarded the patent for the modern solar cell.

Kinematics - Spur Gears

Spur gears or straight-cut gears are the simplest type of gear. Sometimes, many spur gears are used at once to create very large gear reductions. They consist of a cylinder or disk, and with the teeth projecting radially, and although they are not straight-sided in form, the edge of each tooth thus is straight and aligned parallel to the axis of rotation. These gears can be meshed together correctly only if they are fitted to parallel axles.

Two meshing gears transmitting rotational motion. Note that the smaller gear is rotating faster. Although the larger gear is rotating less quickly, its torque is proportionally greater.

The Googleplex: Google Office

Google office design
Google is an American public corporation specializing in Internet search. It generates profits from advertising bought on its similarly free-to-user e-mail, office productivity, social networking, online mapping and video sharing services, YouTube. Google has more recently developed an open source web browser and a mobile phone operating system. Its headquarters the so called Googleplex, is located in Mountain View, California. As of March 31, 2009, the company had 19,786 full-time employees. It runs thousands of servers across the world, processing millions of search requests each day and about one petabyte, one quadrillion bytes or 1000 terabytes, of user-generated data each hour.

Kinematics - Plate Cam CAD (Plate #5)

Design a cam, turning counterclockwise, to give a reciprocating follower, slide 4, following motion: rise 4.25 inches with simple harmonic motion during 135 degrees rotation of the cam; rest for 45 degrees; drop 1.25 inches instantly; drop 3 inches with harmonic motion during 120 degrees; remain still for 60 degrees. Oscillating arm AC is 14 inches long and carries a roller .75 inch in diameter running on a journal B, 8 inches from A and on the center line of AC. This roller is actuated by the cam. A connecting link CD, 6 inches in length, joins C to the slide 4 at D. D is below AC. The fixed axis A, of AC, is 6.5 inches to the left and 3 5/8 inches above the axis of rotation of the cam. The center line of travel of D is vertical and 6 inches to the right of the axis of rotation of the cam. AC is to travel equal angular distances above and below the horizontal.

Goodbye, Google Wave

GOOGLE is shutting down Google Wave, its web-based program that lets people chat, share files and collaborate on documents in real time.

In a blog post, Google said Wave "set a high bar for what was possible in a web browser".

In September last year, Google began inviting people to test Wave, which merges email, online chat, social networking and "wiki" style group access to web pages or documents. With the Wave, email or instant messages blossom into shared online arenas where anyone in the exchange can edit documents, add digital content, or comment at any time.
